During my career, I founded two research support offices, one at an interdisciplinary scientific institute and one at the university level. I have contributed to the design of several others. I understand the needs of start-up and established offices.

Start Fresh: Design and Launch Research Development

 Establishing  research development support at any level of an institution is a daunting endeavor. Integrating with research administrative infrastructure, I work closely with institutional leadership, faculty, staff, and other interest holders to listen deeply and craft right-sized approaches that promote research development practices. Outcomes can include expanded offerings for faculty support, a plan for founding a research development office, or a foundational office of research development.

Re-invigoration of Existing Research Development

For offices that need to revisit, revise, or revamp their research development functions (with a formal unit or not), I provide the opportunity to refresh existing research development support personnel so that they can meet the moment. Leveraging existing strengths, I focus on shaping talent and improving team performance. I build on the current context and function of a team. From providing slight tweaks to crafting a full renovation, I am committed to helping personnel realize their own potential within research development. This package is appropriate for research offices with formal or informal research development services across all sizes and kinds of institutions.

  • Individual-level Research Development competency assessment and alignment at the role and individual level (survey and document analysis)
